Ceannacroc (Phase 1)

Situated north of Loch Cluanie, the Ceannacroc Estate is within the Coire Dho Geological Conservation Review Site. Other notable features of the estate include a location claimed to be Prince Charlie’s Cave and several munros that create the boundary between Ceannacroc and its western neighbours. Consisting of 46.8 ha in size, the first phase of restoration on Ceannacroc chiefly restored actively eroding haggs and utilised cell bunding to rewet bare peat areas, preventing carbon emissions.

The restoration soon after completion, began to demonstrate success and pools formed, aiding in the overall biodiversity of the site in a positive manner. The restoration has also improved the visuals of the hillside, with the dark scars that were once there being remediated and aiding to the already dramatic visuals of An Elric.
