Gleann a’ Mhadaidh

The third instalment of restoration on the Inverlael Estate successfully connects the previous two phases, creating a single homogenous area or peatland restoration. The project itself consisted chiefly of complex actively eroding hagg systems, which were reprofiled and revegetated using low ground pressure excavators.

Alongside the reprofiling, peat dams were installed at regular intervals to create pools of water. Collectively, these restoration methods will aid in the prevention of carbon emission on the Inverlael Estate, whilst simultaneously having a positive impact on the immediate and surrounding habitat.
