Invermark

Invermark Estate is found in Angus, covering roughly 17800 hectares. The estate makes up the southern extent of the Cairngorm National Park and is largely within the Mount Keen to Lochnagar Wild Land designation. Invermark Estate holds a variety of high ground, with deep glens in between, forming a unique habitat in comparison to other areas where projects have been completed.

Mount Keen at 939m, the furthest east of all the Munros, forms the highest point of the estate. Phase 1 – Hill of Saughs, the original phase of restoration on Invermark, can be found to the furthest east extent of the estate, around 3km east of Mount Keen.

Prior to restoration, this site had an abundance of large haggs, held very little water and was particularly dry. Now, following restoration, the site’s ability to hold water has been greatly increased, with an abundance of pools beginning to seed with sphagnum mosses, and a water table that has clearly risen.
